The Psychoanalytic Society of Mexico - Park Mexico is a civil society of Mexican nationality composed of professional psychoanalysts dedicated to the development, the practice and the promotion of psychoanalysis. We are a component society of the International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA) and the Psychoanalytical Federation of Latin America (FEPAL).

Our Mission: To contribute to the development and promotion of psychoanalysis as a science, as a form of treatment and as a professional practice for the self knowledge and development of the individual and society.

Our Vision: At the SPM we aim at being an institute with a presence and recognition in the national and international community for the practice, the teaching, the research, and the psychoanalytic studies we offer with professional ethics to contribute and promote mental health in México.

History

The Psychoanalytic Society of México A.C. was founded in 1972 with the name of Mexican Group for Psychoanalytic Studies. It was officially registered on the 15th of June of the same year and on the 31st of May of 1978 it changed to its actual name. Among the outstanding Charter members three pillars of psychoanalysis: doctors Avelino Gonzalez, Santiago Ramirez, Amapola Gonzalez, Sergio Toscano, and Luis Vega.

Since the beginning to this date, the Psychoanalytic Society of Mexico - Park Mexico, has been concerned with the teaching and practice of psychoanalysis. It has organized many Congresses, symposia, study groups, and athenaeums throughout the Republic. Also it has collaborated with the activities of other associations, as an institution or through the individual participation of its members.

The Psychoanalytic Society of Mexico - Park Mexico has been characterized, from the beginning, for its impetus in promoting psychoanalysis, at the level of training psychoanalyst as well as teaching the many aspects of applied psychoanalysis along with the benefits this discipline offers. We have a Psychoanalytic Clinic for social assistance with the purpose of offering support and assisting people from the lower income bracket, a center that gathers the most important psychoanalytical publications in Mexico and the rest of the world and of the institutes that train psychoanalysts.

Through the years, well known psychoanalyst like Dr. Joyce Mc Dougall, Dr. Salomon Resnik, Dr. Owen Renik, Dr.David Rosenfeld, Dr. Gene Sanville, Dr. Arlene Richards, Dr. Steven Ellman, Dr. Annie Bergman, Dr. Joseph Simo, Dr. Daniel Paul, as well as Latinamerican analyst like Dr. Blanca Montevechio, Dr. Alicia Marian Alizade, Dr. Leticia Glocer, Dr. Irene Meler, Dr. Mabel Burín, among many others, have been part of the Meeting programs as well as scientific reunions.
